    Berber rugs

Berber rugs are an authentic variety of traditional rugs, originally produced by the Berbers, an ethnic group from North Africa. These genuine and unique pieces of folk art are produced mainly in Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria and are carefully crafted by hand, using traditional knotting techniques. In doing so, floor coverings with a distinctive texture are created and thus maintain its robust and durable properties for a long time. Traditionally, Berber rugs and other traditional rugs, like Nepal rugs or Kilim rugs, for example, were produced of wool fibres, as wool rugs are very easy-care and have good heat insulating properties. Nowadays, robust synthetic fibres are used in addition to quality wool to create the soft, dense pile of all kinds of rugs, including runners, for example.

    Modern Berber rugs

A modern Berber rug is inspired by the design of its North African roots and complements traditional and contemporary interiors alike. When combining the style of traditional Nomad rugs and modern furnishings, an inspiring look is created and will delight you eternally with its timeless beauty. Berber rugs are characterised by a relatively simple colouring – immersed into earthy beige and soft grey tones, they radiate a natural ambience and create a harmonious interior. Berber rug motifs are just as timeless as they are decorated with plain diamond patterns which represent a typical feature of Berber rugs and beautifully highlight the texture of various rug types, including shaggy rugs and contemporary rugs with a short pile. In addition to these motifs, striped Berber rugs represent a further typical design of this traditional type of folk art and often complete traditional diamond patterns with their fine lines.
